Call it maturity, or confidence ot tiredness... but I am done with trying new makeup. Don't get me wrong, I still love makeup, wearing it, buying it, applying it. Only I have stopped experimenting so much with it.
Over the years I have figured out the colours, textures and brands that work for me. From base, to eyeshadow and mascara I have my go tos, my true tried and tested favourites that I know work well. They are buildable so that whether it's a work call on an Monday morning or date night with my husband on a Saturday evening, I know I will always look my best.
Here they are:
Base - La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Invisible Fluid Tinted SPF50 Buildable coverage that is also skincare and has SPF50? What's not to love!
Eyebrows - Maybelline New York Brow Drama Mascara Eyebrow I've tried a few different eyebrow gels over the years but nothing comes close to this one! Holds the unrully caterpillars in place and subtly fills in any gaps.
Eyeshadow primer - e.l.f. Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer If you are like me and have oily lids, then you know that a good eyelid primer is a must. This one is my absolute favourite. I've tried a few others in my time ranging from Urban Decay to Mac and found they either didn't do job as well or they left a nasty sticky residue on my lids. This one however, for thehumble price of £3 will make sure your eyeshadow and liner won't budge!
Eyeshadow - This is probably a bit unorthodox but I rarely if ever use actual eyeshadow. I prefer bronzers. I just like the colours better! My ultimate favourite is the Benefit Hoola Toasted bronzer. I find it to be a very flattering shade and also a very buildable product if I want to add more drama to the eyes. I also use the MAC Skinfinish Sunstruck Matte Bronzer in Light Golden. Again it's thetype of colour that just makes my hazel eyes pop so nicely. Finally, an actual eyeshadow that I love is MAC Sable.
Eyeliner - I used to be a sharp jet black feline flick type of girly but I find that simply doesn't suit my face anymore. I refuse to think my eyelids are droopier but as much as I enjoy a ncie eyeliner I find myself going for a smudged ook more often. My two go to faves are MAC Kohl in Teddy and Cost Riche . Both are a wearable deep brown that is easy to smudge but once set in place it won't budge all day.
Mascara - My go to mascara is Lancôme Hypnôse Volume À Porter Mascara Black The waterproof formula is military grade water resistant and will not smear or budge all day. The wand is superb and the formula itself is super flattering and not at all clumpy.
Something I do still experiement with however is lipstick. That is the one and only thing I still play around with becasue let's be honest, one could never have too many lip products. I currently have 3 different ones on my desk as I am typing this.
Here are a few that I love:
